Host Families:

A key point in our programmes is the fact that our students are integrated in a warm and caring Spanish host family. Our host families are carefully selected taking into account parameters such as the space available in the house, the quality of the food, and the willingness of the family to treat the students as if they were one more on board.

There are several reasons why host families are an excellent option to provide full board accommodation.

1-Warm and caring environment

To begin with, the host family provides a safe and personalized environment for the student. Our host families will make the student feel at home and will contribute enormously to make his or her stay in Barcelona very enjoyable.

2-A closer look into the Spanish culture

In addition to that, the host family prepares home-made food for the students so that they can enjoy the taste of Spanish cuisine. The students share most of the meals with the family, as if they were one more, and so they learn about Spanish culture from a closer (and inner) perspective. Daily rutines can be a little bit shocking; for example in Spain people have lunch at around 14:00 and they have dinner at around 21:00.

3-Keep practising Spanish

Finally, but not less important, staying in a host family guarantees that the students keep practising Spanish at all times. Spanish is the language that they hear when they wake up, and Spanish is the language that they hear before going to bed. This will enhance the student’s listening and speaking skills making their Spanish level dramatically increase within a few weeks.

Sundays: Family day

On Sundays the students enjoy a “family day”. Most of the families on Sundays do some special activity such as going to the beach, going to the mountain or visiting some relatives. Students will participate in these family activities which will give them a deeper understanding of Spanish culture and society. In addition there are families who spend their weekends off, for example in their apartment by the beach. We recommend that the students whose families intend to spend the weekend with them, they accept the invitation as this would greatly improve their Spanish.
